Summer is coming and what do we want more on a lovely day? A rooftop garden!
London is a crowded city and every open space is precious. So why not use the roof? Breathtaking view included.
#1 Dalston Roof Park
Membership costs a fiver for the season, but you can meet young creative people for example during one of their awesome events. Think free film screenings, yoga, music performances and street food stalls.
#2 Queen Elizabeth Roof Garden
On top of the Southbank Centre there's a roof garden with an amazing view on the Thames, London Eye, Houses of Parliament, etc. There's a cafe bar but also fruit trees and wild flowers. A true relaxing spot in mid-touristy London.
#3 Queen of Hoxton Rooftop
Queen of Hoxton is a bar, club and art gallery in Shoreditch. They also host a lot of music events with famous artists. During the summer, they open up the roof for workshops, parties, a daily BBQ and other activities. In June they're one of the locations for the Rooftop Film Club, so there's always something to do. During winter times (or autumn) there's warm and cosy tipi (aka wigwam) on the roof, with an open grill and lots of lights.
Where? 1-5 Curtain Road EC2A 3JX
Netil House is a creative community in Hackney. On the rooftop there's a workspace for members only. You pay £17 for an all day pass for desk space, high speed internet and roaming. So this isn't really a place to hang out and relax, but rather an inspiring office where you can meet interesting like-minded people.
