As a last blogpost for 2014 I want to treat you to the most beautiful illustrations of London I've ever seen. Jason Brooks (°1969) is a well-known fashion illustrator who regularly works for Vogue and Elle, but he can also count the big brands to his clients (think: Chanel, Ritz Hotels, L'Oreal, etc.).
In 2013 he published his Paris Sketchbook, which some of you may know. For 2015 he has made the London Sketchbook and it looks so good. It's very beautiful, elegant and appealing. (Yes, I ordered one already!) Jason Brooks lives in Brighton at the moment, but has a special bond with London. He studied at St Martin’s and the Royal College of Art. He loves the diversity in London, which can be overwhelming but you just have to delve in to it and enjoy, he says.
“London is very much part of my psyche. Now that I live in Brighton I really appreciate coming back with fresh eyes each time I take the train to Victoria. I think if you live in London it’s easy to become blase, because it has become so familiar, and not notice how spectacular it really is.”
The book features several landmarks, but also cultural institutions, food, fashion and shopping. He always sketches on location. Below you see a few of his drawings from the book.
I want to wish you and your loved ones all the best for the new year! In January 2015 London is your oyster exists one year (hooray!) and already I have a few blogposts in mind. The London Lovers series will be continued soon and I'll show you my top 10 London Instagram accounts as well.
